UK Counter-Terrorism Strategy, CONTEST, updated to address evolving threats

UK Counter-Terrorism Strategy, CONTEST, updated to address evolving threats

19th July 2023 by Louise Carney

As the leading association of perimeter security suppliers, PSSA fully supports the updated CONTEST 2023 strategy announced by the Home Secretary, Rt Hon Suella Braverman KC MP. We recognise the unrelenting and evolving terrorist threat to the UK, as demonstrated by the alarming number of declared and disrupted attacks. PSSA remains committed to providing cutting-edge security solutions and collaborating with government agencies to effectively detect, deter, and mitigate these threats, ensuring the safety and well-being of the nation…

Rt Hon Suella Braverman KC MP Home Secretary announced the updated CONTEST 2023 strategy, saying that “The terrorist threat to the UK is unrelenting and evolving. Since we last published CONTEST in 2018, we have seen nine declared terrorist attacks, and 39 disrupted attacks – averaging almost eight attempted attacks per year. It is also increasingly unpredictable, making it harder to detect and investigate. We, therefore, judge that the risk is rising – and I will continue to do everything within my power to disrupt and curtail this threat”. Read the full story below in CT Insight
