The Perimeter Security Suppliers Association (PSSA) held its Interact day at the Ardencote Hotel in Warwickshire on the 5th of July. Over 70 members attended, engaging in a series of presentations and discussions.
PSSA Chairman, Paul Jeffrey, kicked off the day with a talk about the PSSA installer scheme, which aims to uphold higher standards. He also unveiled the new board structure of the association.
The National Protective Security Agency (NPSA) gave an important security briefing, launching the new ISO22343 standard set to replace the PAS68 and IWA14 standards – the approval start date was on the 21st July 23.
BS ISO 22343 is now going through its approval process. The two-part standard covers Security and Resilience of Vehicle Security Barriers. Performance requirement, vehicle impact test method and performance rating and application. The PSSA will be closely following its publication and application.
Robert Ball, Engineering Director of ATG Access, shared insights into an HVM engineer’s work in his talk titled “How a product develops from an Idea to Production”.
After lunch, Christopher Wyborne, Associate Director, Protective Design & (Cyber) Security at Thornton Tomasetti, discussed the identification of cyber risks and how to create strategies to lessen them.
The final session of the day was led by Ellie Hurst, Head of Marcomms at Advent IM, and the Women in Security award winner. She gave a talk on understanding cybersecurity threats and best practices for dealing with them.
The day was both informative and engaging for all PSSA members in attendance.
