What do a shark tooth and a bollard have in common?
Their design is one of a kind…
Perimeter Protection Group enters a new era of high-security bollards and launches the unique CityProtector M40 and M50.
Let’s start from scratch – this is what Dr. Paul Eichwald, Head of Research & Development of Perimeter Protection Group might have thought when it came to developing a new high-security bollard with improved features. For hundreds of years, bollards come in a round shape. In the 17th century, canons were used as bollards to protect the city. Round-shaped bollards have become a familiar sight in nearly every town centre.
Perimeter Protection group presents the CityProtector:
A totally new kind of bollard with improved functionality, design, and ZERO penetration. Inspired by nature, the R&D team came up with a revolutionary idea: they applied key characteristics of a shark tooth to the basic composition of a bollard.
ZERO Penetration – the less the penetration, the safer the area:
Conducting vehicle impact simulations was just the beginning of the product development process. Both the CityProtector M40 and M50 have subsequently proven their impact resistance in real crash tests. The CityProtector M40 survived the vehicle impact unscathed whereas the test vehicle was completely destroyed. The penetration distance of Zero is an incredible result and unrivalled in the high-security market.
Individual design and customizable functions:
A unique feature is the individual design, which can be adapted to the cityscape. The CityProtector has a multi-layered structure and can be customized in colour, shape and functionality. The four blocking elements of the bollard can be adapted separately according to customer needs.
The integration as street furniture invites the citizens to interact and therefore helps to increase the acceptance enormously. Popular solutions are benches, planters, bicycle racks, and rubbish bins.
Shallow mounted – every millimeter counts:
The CityProtector requires a shallow foundation depth of 220 mm only. This low depth is especially important in inner cities, where pipes, underground garages and other structures run underneath the surface – every millimeter counts. This makes it easier to carry out construction projects.
Easy to mount, manually to disassemble:
During development, it was ensured that the CityProtector can be assembled and disassembled manually by one person only. One blocking element weighs about 45 kilograms. This means that heavy machinery such as cranes or forklifts are no longer needed. The cost for installation can be reduced.
