PSSA Newsletter - Issue 34

– 20 – PSSA NEWSLETTER  |  ISSUE 34 Protect Duty will be a key theme running throughout International Security Expo 2022 International Security Expo will return to Olympia London on 27 - 28 September 2022, bringing together senior security professionals from across the globe looking to discover the latest products and innovations that will ensure the security of their business, public spaces, critical national infrastructure and more. The new Protect Duty legislation will be a key theme running throughout International Security Expo this year. Providing a critical platform for those businesses who will need to comply with it, the event will offer the owners and operators of public spaces, such as sports arenas and concert settings, hotels, shopping centres and tourist attractions, the chance to receive advice and source the latest product solutions that make improved safety possible. The detail behind the policy and the subsequent legislation will be discussed in detail across the summits and conferences. This includes many of the practical issues surrounding its implementation, covering the proposed legislation itself, wider planning and advice, whilst delving into case studies for different aspects including public and privately controlled PALs such as iconic buildings and concert areas. Design will be a critical part of the implementation, ensuring solutions match the image of the areas they are designed to protect. Linking the legislation and design issues to practicalities is a fundamental element that will be covered. One of the most popular areas in International Security Expo is the Perimeter Protection Zone, featuring the latest physical perimeter protection products from video surveillance, access control, intruder detection, fencing, barriers, bollards and more. The Live Testing Lab, supported by BRE, provides visitors with an opportunity to witness a team of professional forced entry specialists pitted against a wide range of physical security products including security fencing, windows and doorsets. With more than 350 global exhibitors showcasing cutting edge innovations and next-generation capabilities from across the entire security spectrum, a best-in-class education programme and dedicated zones spanning International Risk and Resilience, Government and Drones and Counter UAVs, it is no surprise thousands of senior vetted visitors return year-on-year to learn about the latest trends, and source and test the latest game- changing solutions from the world’s leading suppliers. The event has a long history of Government support, spanning the Home Office, British Transport Police, Counter Terrorism Policing, Border Force, Joint Security and Resilience Centre (JSaRC), Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (PCPI) and more. Furthermore, the show’s renowned conference programme and Government Zone attracts high-level speakers. In 2021, this included Security Minister Rt Hon Damian Hinds MP, who highlighted the role of the event in bringing the international security community together to explore the current and expected challenges facing national and global security.
