Anti-terror product manufacturer
celebrates a second awardWIN this year
East-Yorkshire based manufacturer, Heald Ltd
has experienced significant success in terms
of award wins and shortlistings already this
year. Earlier this month, Heald’s Managing
Director, Debbie Heald was named Director of
the Year (up to £35m) in the inaugural Yorkshire
Business Leaders Awards.
Heald Ltd designs, manufactures and installs
a range of hostile vehicle mitigation systems
which aim to prevent targeted terrorist attacks
on high profile sites around the world. Their
client base includes embassies, palaces, stadia,
oil refineries, banks and many more.
The International, family-run business
collected the Yorkshire Business Leaders award
at the Millenium Gallery in Sheffield on 10th
March 2016. The awards ceremony welcomed
some of the country’s most successful and
dynamic business leaders and aimed to
recognise their notable efforts in contributing
to the future of businesses and overall
economic growth.
Broadcasted by Colin Murray, the awards
were founded by Elevation Group, Aon, August
Eqity, BHP Chartered Accountants and HSBC in
partnership with Insider Media.
The latest award win follows an additional
triumph this month at The Northern Power
Women awards, where Heald picked up the
Small Business award. A highly contested
event, The Northern Power Women seeks
to champion gender diversity and positive
organisational culture.
Heald is a strong supporter of gender
diversity in the workplace, as demonstrated by
Debbie’s keen interest in working with STEM
organisations to encourage other females to
follow her into the engineering industry.
Commenting on both award wins, Managing
Director Debbie Heald stated:
“We are honoured to have been recognised for
our commitment over the last year. We certainly
didn’t expect to win two awards already this year!
The award wins are certainly a testament to the
hard work and efforts of the team.”

Outdoor PE all year round is now a reality at
a primary school in Greater Manchester since
the installation of an all-weather sports pitch.
Oakfield Primary School in Hyde wanted
to improve their outdoor play provision in
particular giving greater opportunity for their
children to be able to play a range of sports
in a designated area away from the main
playground.
They appointed Farnborough-based Fawns
Recreational Services Ltd to install a 20m
x 12m Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) with
polymeric surface.
The new court has allowed the school to
run PE lessons outdoor all year round and has
reduced pressure on the playground during
break and lunch times with the ball court
being used for free play as well as curriculum
activities.
Fawns, which supplies inspirational play
for parks, schools & nurseries, turned to PSSA
member and sports fencing expert Zaun for
the MUGA fencing.
The MUGA incorporates Zaun’s Duo6
and Duo8 twin wire fencing range, with
recessed goals hiding exits from the ends and
basketball posts, backboards and hoops at
either end above the goals.
Clamp bar covering panel ends ensures a
safe playing surface with no sharp edges.
