New

Certification

Project

The PSSA is establishing a working group

to consider future policy with reference

to standards and schemes already

supported by member companies.

This will involve a pause in the current

Verification Scheme pending the results

of the detailed review of the working

group. Rob Oliver, Secretary to the

Council explained, “Steve Munden and

Mike Webb of Business Keys have done

great work in devising and delivering

the PSSA Verification Scheme and we

are very appreciative of their efforts.

But there have been some significant

challenges in making it sustainable

going forward, so consequently we are

taking a fresh look at future strategy.

We want to make sure that whatever

emerges meets the requirements of

the maximum number of high security

product suppliers as well as achieving

widespread support and recognition

amongst clients. Discussions, including

with CPNI, have already started as to

what comes next.”

PSSA member Zaun has created two innovative

ornamental sculptures to showcase its product.

The cube within a cube within a cube

– or Cube Cubed – is the creation of the

steel fencing manufacturer’s research and

development manager, Adam Christie, in

response to a challenge from director and co-

founder Alastair Henman.

It features a 6” ArmaWeave cube inside a

medium-sized cube of HiSec double space

inside a 12” cube made from Super Rebound.

The original sculpture is bound for

the NatWest Bank commercial branch in

Wolverhampton after Zaun’s relationship

director at the bank, Richard Dowen, asked for

a display piece to showcase Zaun’s product.

But Henman was so taken with the design

that he had a replica made to display in

Zaun’s own reception at its headquarters on

Steel Drive.

PSSAAims &Objectives

The EGM re-endorsed the objectives of the PSSA as…

“The principal aim of the PSSA is the promotion of the interests of

professional companies involved in the design, supply, and installation

of external perimeter protection products and services that provide the

highest levels of protection against terrorist or criminal attack.

In order to achieve that aim the PSSA will seek to work with other

individuals and organisations who share an objective to continually raise

industry standards and to encourage the use of professionally installed,

and independently tested, external perimeter protection products in all

circumstances where terrorist or criminal attack is a risk.”
