High Profile Scheme for Hardstaff Barriers & Highway Care – Fit for a Prince

High Profile Scheme for Hardstaff Barriers & Highway Care – Fit for a Prince

23rd July 2018 by Louise Carney

In May 2018 the National Barrier Asset successfully delivered its most high profile scheme to date this year, with its contractor H2S2 Ltd (Joint Venture between Hardstaff Barriers Ltd & Highway Care Ltd), by installing hostile vehicle mitigation to protect the Royal Wedding in Windsor.

The challenge was to provide a secure scheme which protected both the public viewing the wedding and the Royal Couple, while having the flexibility when the HVM was not in use to ensure both the traffic and public could go about their daily business. In addition, the team had to consider aesthetics, to ensure that event felt secure but not like a fortress, as the event was to be televised world wide the look and feel of the HVM was very important.

Working with Thames Valley Police, the team installed the scheme over 3 nights, with additional mitigation being provided during the rehearsal and on the day and removed the scheme over 2 nights so that Windsor could be up and running on the Monday morning after the Wedding.
