CHAIRMAN'S INTRODUCTION
Since
our last newsletter the progress of establishing the PSSA as a real
progressive force in our sector has gathered pace. Our first “public”
outing at the Counter Terror exhibition was a great success – which we
followed with a presence at the IFSEC show at the National Exhibition
Centre. As a result we can report a growing membership and a real
recognition that we can make a difference in raising standards. We now
have an established certification process with LPCB. At our open
members’ meeting hosted by them at their Garston facility there was
unanimity amongst members that we would use the LPCB LPS (Loss
Prevention Standard) framework to develop and progress our standards.
We are inviting not only our members to be part of this process and
consultation but also plan to involve other key stakeholders and
experts in the standards making process. The encouragement of CPNI
remains central to our success – and we have now opened up discussions
with them to see how fencing products can be included within the
certification scheme. Things are now beginning to move very swiftly.
One
of the debates we have been having within the PSSA Council is on the
question of membership criteria and classifications. This will be one
of the key topics at our next meeting so that we have clearer guidance
for continuing and new members as we move into our second year of
existence.
Finally,
in our efforts to “spread the word”, I hope you enjoy the sneak preview
in this newsletter of an article I have written for Counter Terror
Business to keep the debate going – just click the 'Articles' icon and
let me know what you think.
